The AMBER Alert program has proven to be very successful in the return of missing and abducted children for years. The Wireless AMBER Alert program is just the next step in the recovery of missing and abducted children. Here are some successful recovery stories that will insure the continued development of the Wireless AMBER Alert program.

 

 

Taylorsville, Utah

On October 24, 2005, a car thief had stolen a car with a 2 month old baby in the back seat after the baby's mother ran back into her home. The child’s mother quickly alerted authorities and an AMBER Alert was immediately issued. An off duty cop heard the alert and spotted the car in a abandoned parking lot and returned the baby to her mother unharmed.

 

Gwinnett County, Georgia
On August 4, 2006, a 4 year old girl was discovered missing after the mother was found murdered in her home. Once local law enforcement was notified, an AMBER Alert was issued. The girl was safely returned after a citizen saw the AMBER Alert and saw the description of the car in the alert.

 

Portsmouth, VA
On December 20, 2007, a one month baby was reported missing after the baby was not returned by the babysitter at the end of the day. An AMBER Alert was issued with background information about the babysitter and the condition of the baby. A hospital worker heard about the alert based on the clothing description, contacted local police, and safely returned the baby to its family.

 

Hamburg, NY
On January 10, 2008, law enforcement was searching for a mother who was believed to have caused serious danger to her two daughters. Law enforcement issued an AMBER Alert after receiving the threats to the welfare of the two children. Police apprehended the mother and rescued the children after a gas station attendant contacted police in a near by town after receiving a description of the mother in the alert.
